Three extra suspects have been held over late Saturday’s assault on three international college students of Gujarat College by a mob that allegedly objected to them providing namaz within the open, taking the entire arrests to 5. The scholars — one every from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan — needed to be admitted to hospital. The assault had sparked a diplomatic flurry, with the Centre and state govt vowing to trace down the culprits.Kshitij Pandey, Jitendra Pandey, and Sahil Dudhakia, had been picked up Monday, and Hitesh Mevada and Bharat Patel a day earlier. All had been remanded in police custody until Wednesday by a court docket. The recent arrests got here on a day GU issued tips saying “public space (is) to be avoided for any private, religious or outside activity”. The rules had been issued for these allotted rooms in a brand new “NRI Hostel”.
