Braithwaite secures Rs 180 crore order from railways to produce 500 wagons -How Finance Works

KOLKATA: Central PSU Braithwaite & Co Ltd has obtained an order price Rs 180 crore to provide 500 wagons to the railways, a high firm official mentioned on Sunday. These are BCVM-C kind wagons, often known as brake vans hooked up to rakes.
“We have secured an order of 500 wagons this month valued at Rs 180 crore”, Braithwaite chairman and managing director Yatish Kumar advised PTI.
The corporate has been diversifying into companies and building for a sustainable turnaround and to realize excessive progress, as wagons have been 95 per cent of the enterprise in 2018 however now it has come all the way down to 55 per cent.
The corporate is striving to spice up the entire order pipeline, which was Rs 1,734 crore as of December 2023.
“We had plans to reduce it to 50 per cent. Introducing new revenue verticals was important for a sustainable turnaround with better profitability,” Kumar mentioned.
“Civil construction, bridge cranes, and operation and maintenance activities proved viable. Container manufacturing, solar PV plants, and railway station construction contracts are being executed,” he mentioned.
Diversification holds the important thing to Braithwaite’s deliberate roadmap to grow to be a Rs 2,500 crore listed CPSU by 2025-26.
