BALLARI: A brother-sister duo divided by political ideology has now opted for various geographies to make sure that their paths do not collide. Siblings B Sriramulu and J Shantha have launched into separate political journeys after alternating as Lok Sabha candidates on their household turf, Bellary in Karnataka, for 15 years. Sriramulu, a minister in erstwhile BJP govt, is again because the saffron social gathering’s candidate within the upcoming election, whereas Shantha has moved to Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh on a YSRCP ticket. In 2009, Shantha was a profitable BJP nominee in Bellary, defeating N Y Hanumanthappa of Congress. Sriramulu contested the seat in 2014 and received. When he vacated Bellary to return to state politics in 2018, Shantha was nominated for bypoll. They each misplaced. After five-odd years within the political wilderness, Shantha sought a BJP ticket to contest meeting polls in 2023. She did not make the minimize. Smarting from the snub, she set her sights on Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh, of which her husband is a local. With YSRCP obliging her with a ticket, Shantha is up towards former TDP MP B Ok Parthasarathy.
