BENGALURU: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Monday stated he would retire from politics whether it is proved that he took a bribe from anybody.Talking on the state-level conference of contractors at Palace Grounds, Siddaramaiah asserted that he by no means took any bribes, neither in his former tenure as chief minister, nor at the moment.βI will retire from politics if it is proved that anyone bribed me to issue clearance letters to contractors during the period 2013-2018 or even after becoming chief minister for the second time (from May 20, 2023),β Siddaramaiah stated.He stated he has directed public works minister Satish Jarkiholi to award work price Rs 4,000 crore with no bundle for the good thing about small contractors, as they had been against dividing single work into completely different packages.Turning consideration to the central authorities and the earlier BJP authorities within the state, Siddaramaiah stated that Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former CM Basavaraj Bommai had each introduced of their budgets that they might give Rs 5,300 crore for the Bhadra Higher Financial institution Challenge however until right this moment not a single rupee has come.βDespite the non-cooperation of the central government, we will pay the contractors in instalments. The government is positive about all the demands put forward by the contractors, including cancellation of the package system and payment of arrears,β Siddaramaiah stated.
