The turning point came when I saw myself on a hoarding for a chocolate ad. It was a nice experience. Encouraged by those around me who appreciated my screen presence, I started auditioning for TVCs. One thing led to another, and I started auditioning for TV shows. Balancing auditions with my job was challenging; waking up early, wearing heavy make-up, giving auditions, rushing to the office, marking attendance, and then removing my makeup in the washroom to be at the job became routine. Eventually, my major break happened in the form of Yeh Hai Chahatein (YHC).”With the assist from her financial institution employees, she efficiently managed the seven-month shoot for YHC alongside along with her job. She remembers, “I was confused about leaving a government job. However, my seniors supported me, and I completed the seven-month-long season of YHC. I returned to the job and was posed with some challenges. However, when I was offered Chaahenge Tumhe Itnaa, I decided not to repeat past mistakes. Thus, I submitted my resignation. The actress says, “This character isn’t just different from me but also my previous role; it’s multi-layered. In YHC, I played a bubbly, talkative, straightforward, and righteous girl. However, Aashi is sweet and simple. She feels she owes her life to her father-in-law and everything she does in life is to make him proud. She is selfless and has no room for any other kind of love than for her Baba. Back home, she suffers emotional torture because her family holds her responsible for a tragedy that hit them years ago. I get to portray various emotions as Aashi because she is different with different people.”I’ve now realised how powerful the audition course of is: Yesha RughaniShe provides, “As Aashi, I am not supposed to smile freely. Burdened by many responsibilities, she has almost forgotten what happiness truly means. As a jovial girl, the challenge for me was to play a demure and timid girl. Controlling my smile and laugh was a task, especially during the initial few episodes. However, I am in sync with the character now. When you play a part for so many days, you start understanding the pulse of it. Now I can resonate with Aashi’s feelings and emotions. A character stops feeling repetitive when you stop acting and start living the character. I am living Aashi.”
