NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi lately inaugurated the Sudarshan Setu, a monumental cable-stayed bridge that spans roughly 2.32 km, connecting the Okha mainland to Beyt Dwarka in Gujarat. This bridge, previously generally known as the ‘Signature Bridge,’ has been renamed Sudarshan Setu.Located close to the Okha port, Beyt Dwarka is an island about 30 km from Dwarka city, residence to the well-known Dwarkadhish temple devoted to Lord Krishna.Known as India’s longest cable-stayed bridge, Sudarshan Setu holds immense significance for each residents and pilgrims, particularly these visiting the revered Dwarkadhish Temple. Prime Minister Modi, accompanied by Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel, marked the inauguration as a momentous event for Gujarat’s developmental journey.The mission, initiated by the Centre in 2017, goals to simplify entry for devotees commuting between Okha and Guess Dwarka, eliminating the necessity for boat transport. The two.5 km bridge, constructed at a value of Rs 978 crore, showcases a particular design with a footpath adorned with verses from the Bhagavad Gita and pictures of Lord Krishna.
