AGARTALA: Tripura govt suspended the state’s principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife and ecotourism) Prabin Lal Agrawal on Saturday amidst an issue surrounding the naming of a zoo lion and lioness as Akbar and Sita, respectively. The suspension adopted a grievance from VHP to Calcutta excessive courtroom, alleging that the names damage non secular sentiments, reported.The lion and lioness had been relocated to North Bengal Wild Animals Park in Siliguri from Tripura’s Sepahijala zoo on Feb 12, as a part of an animal trade programme.Agrawal, a 1994-batch IFS officer, was then serving as Tripura’s chief wildlife warden. The HC bench ordered altering the names of the lion pair.Nevertheless, the Bengal forest division clarified that the names got by Tripura, and any modification was the duty of Tripura zoo authorities.
